Non-Linear Plasma Oscillations -- Excitation by Radio Waves
Research Fig.3:
Plasma oscillation amplitude and corresponding power spectrum for a resonant driving electric field with a frequency of 2.87*107rad/sec and field strength of E0=2*10-4 cgs-units ( 6 V/m) in a plasma of density Np=105cm-3 and an electron energy of 0.11 eV with a background magnetic field of 0.5 G;
a),b): unaveraged over Larmor circle (i.e. for a 'bunched' electron distribution);
c),d): averaged over Larmor circle assuming a homogeneous and isotropic distribution of electrons;
(please note that in this image the actual oscillation frequency is not resolved anymore in a) and c) ).
